All requirements are based on 40″ usable width of fabric. See General Piecing Instructions (page 5) for details on cutting methods as needed.

*Measure your finished quilt top and adjust the border lengths as needed. These measurements are for a quilt top that measures 50½″ × 50½″ before borders.

Cutting unit D

Block Assembly

1. Use the 4 New York Beauty unit patterns (patterns are available to print from http://tinyurl.com/10734-patterns) to make the freezer-paper templates. Make 1 freezer-paper template each of units A and D and 8 each of units B and C. The templates for the A and D units can be reused 8 times.

2. Use the registration marks (dots) on units A and D to mark the fabric. The dots mark the intersections of the points on the neighboring units.

3. Use the block map as a guide for color placement.

4. Stitch the units together in order: A to D. Press the seam allowances toward D. Make 8 diamonds.
